An exciting opportunity for new Trustees to join the Charity’s Board

The Hospital of God at Greatham is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals who share our core values, bring clear and rational decision-making and can share their lived experiences to support our Charity in achieving its aims.

We are particularly looking for people with:

• Experience in property management and/or development, with a focus on the social housing sector and/or
• Strong financial management (ideally investment management experience)

We also want to compliment the skills of our current Trustees, with individuals who have an interest and/or experience in Charity governance, environmental and heritage projects and grassroots charities in the north-east area.

Successful candidates will have the ability to use their skills to ensure good governance through their strategic insight, sound advice and constructive challenge to help the Trustee Board undertake their responsibilities of scrutiny and support.

Trustees are expected to attend the six Board meetings scheduled through the year, along with becoming members of the Boards Sub-Committees, (currently “Finance and Property” and “Grants”) and be willing to visit those who use our provision. Travel expenses paid for attendance at meetings and other activities

Our Charity

The Charity works to develop and provide excellent person-centred care, support and housing services for people, particularly older people and those living with a dementia. Our portfolio of services span:

• Community day services for people living with a dementia or memory loss and their carers in East Durham and Hartlepool
• Residential care at Stichell House, a 35-bed purpose-built facility in Hartlepool
• The Bridge; a one stop dementia care and advice hub service in Hartlepool
• Community Pastimes; a one-to-one service supporting people living with dementia or facing social isolation to be as independent as possible
• Almshouses in Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees, enabling elderly people to live independently
• The Charity has a social housing property portfolio of over 120 properties, along with leased commercial properties and farms
• A grants programme which provides grant funding to local organisations enabling them to make a positive social impact

With a long history, The Hospital of God was first established some 750 years ago and has an asset bases of properties and a permanent endowment.
